We know that hospitalization can be stressful. We care about you and want to accompany you when you or your loved ones have the need for support.
Our staff represents a diversity of spiritual backgrounds and identities and we are committed to supporting your well-being while in the hospital.

We offer

  • Gentle, inclusive companionship, and a caring presence
  • Support during emotional distress
  • Guided meditation and relaxation for relief from emotional and physical pain
  • Prayer
  • Support with grief, loss, and bereavement for patients and their loved ones
  • Spiritual and religious rituals or sacraments
  • Contact and coordination with a patient’s spiritual or religious community 
  • Access to spiritual and religious resources
  • Lifecycle events including:
    • Memorial services and times of remembering
    • Commitment ceremonies and weddings
    • Baptisms and blessings
  • Meditation Rooms at our hospital campuses for respite and renewal:
    • Mission Bay: Rooms C1401 (Ground Floor Meditation Room and Garden) and A4481 (Adult Hospital)
    • Mount Zion: Ground Floor, 1600 Divisadero
    • Parnassus: Ground Floor, 505 Parnassus Ave (behind Information Desk)

 

For immediate response, day or night, contact your nurse and they will request a chaplain visit for you. For general requests, emails will be returned by the next business day: spiritualcareservices@ucsf.edu
